She was a member of Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, where she was a deaconess and Ruth Circle member. She was a member of a Women’s Chapel Club in Green Pond. She was a member of the Eastern Christian Mothers’ Club. She is survived by her children Elmer Jr. of Rockford, Michigan, Peter of Comstock Park, Michigan, and Margaret DeRitter of Kalamazoo, Michigan, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and her brother Herbert Soodsma. Lawrence W. “Bucky” Edler of Wyckoff died Oct. 3. He was 68. Before retiring, he had been a professional engineer for the Township of Wyckoff for 23 years. He was a member of Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Company #3. He is survived by his wife Karen (nee Keller) Edler of Wyckoff, and his children Kimberly Kaiser of Highland Lakes, Robert of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Jon of Ramsey, five grandchildren, and his siblings Gerald Edler of Ringwood, and Judith Rabinowitz of Sarasota, Florida. Before retiring in 2009, he was a supervisor at Ridgewood Water, where he was employed for 28 years. Earlier in his career, he was the owner of Chuck Harris Landscape. He is a former member of the Protection Fire Company #1 in Wyckoff, and a member of the North Jersey Water Conference. He is survived by his wife Denise “Dee” (nee Spohn), his daughters, Karen Fylstra of Midland Park, and Megan Manookian of Ridgefield Park, six grandchildren, his mother and father-in-law, Lois and Ferd Spohn, formerly of Wyckoff, and his sisters Maryanne, Jane, Tina and Holly. Doris Lavery of Wyckoff died Oct. 5. She was 77. She Lena DeRitter is a graduate of Hunter College. She taught in a number of Montessori Schools in the area, and was employed at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff before her retirement. She was a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth’s Church in Wyckoff, where she had been a Eucharistic Minister and a lector. She was the founding head of Saint Elizabeth’s Prayer Group, serving as a spiritual director for many years. She was a leader in Saint Elizabeth’s Social Justice Ministry, and an associate of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Peace and Justice in Englewood Cliffs. She is survived by her husband Daniel Lavery of Wyckoff, her sons Dr. Daniel Lavery of West Linn, Oregon, Dr. Brian Lavery of Lawrenceville, Dr. Kevin Lavery of Jackson, Michigan, and Michael Lavery of Oak Park, Illinois, and 11 grandchildren. George August Leiding of Ridgewood died Oct. 1. He was 89. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and a Coast Guard veteran. He is survived by his son Walter Leiding of Wyckoff, Barbara Leiding of Bedminster, one grandson, and his brothers Charles and Harry, both of Palatine, Illinois. Robert “Bob” William Meyer of Nantucket, Massachusetts died Oct. 2. He was 72. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a 1957 graduate of Ridgewood High School and a 1962 graduate of Farleigh Dickinson University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. He worked for Hess Oil and Chemical Co. as a regional sales manager, then went on to start several small oil and chemical wholesale companies over the next two decades. Before retiring, he was co-owner and vice president of Metro Oil and Chemical Corp. He had been a member of the Ridgewood Country Club in Ridgewood, and of the Sankaty Golf Club and the Nantucket Yacht Club, both in Nantucket, Massachusetts. He is survived by his children Heather Jones of Macungie, Pennsylvania, Robin Terres of Hingham, Massachusetts, and Tuck of Nantucket, five grandchildren, and his sister Virginia Marshall of Cohasset, Minnesota, Harold of Washington Depot, Connecticut, and Barbara Vanderbilt of Nantucket, the mother of his children.
