eghan Burbank has come full circle in her career goals as an engineer since joining LAN Associates, EPAS, Inc. two years ago. Interested in the environment since she was in grade school, she now holds LEED accreditation through the U.S. Green Building Council and is pursuing state certification in wetlands delineation. Likewise, she loved teaching and interacting with students as a teacher’s assistant while in college, and now she is mentoring high school students through the ACE (Architects, Construction, Engineering) Mentor Program. “I have been given every Meghan Burbank opportunity to pursue the things I have always wanted to accomplish, aspects of my life and career that I am passionate about,” she said of LAN. “It’s a great company. They want you to be the best you can be. Everyone is supportive.” After receiving her BS degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Central Florida, she worked for 10 years as a solid waste engineer. A civil engineer at LAN, she appreciates the camaraderie in a mid-size company and the opportunity to have an active role in a variety of projects. She feels at home both in the office and out in the field, and seeing the designs completed on paper come to life. At LAN, she performs site development and facility design for residential, school, athletic field, industrial, and commercial clients, including the storm water drainage analysis and environmental permitting necessary for these projects. She also performs cost analysis and quality control/construction administration for various projects. The firm’s engineering department offers a wide range of engineering services, including engineering feasibility analysis, zoning analysis, site engineering, soil movement calculations, utility engineering, septic design, retaining wall design, trail improvements, natural and artificial turf field designs, and environmental permitting including storm water pollution prevention plans, wetlands and stream encroachment studies. Based in Midland Park, LAN is celebrating 45 years of design and project excellence this year. It is one of the largest full-service engineering and architectural firms in northern NJ serving clients throughout the United States and Canada. Ridgewood Culinary Studio welcomes you
business owned and operated by Nanci Gregory and Jo Marie Quinn, two friends brought together by their passion for cooking. “Each of us brings to the table a world of experience and talents. We have been trained by top chefs from around the world,” Nanci and Jo Marie say. Nanci indulged her passion for cooking 16 years ago, when she started working with The Pampered Chef. “The business allowed Jo Marie Quinn and Nanci Gregory me to do two things I love most: talk and cook,” Nanci quips. “I taught easy recipes while demonstrating kitchen tools. I started teaching a program for children in Wyckoff 16 years ago, and that was when I decided to open a cooking school where anyone could learn easy, everyday recipes.” Jo Marie’s love of cooking started at the age of five. “My grandma made me an apron, put me on a stool, and set me to work. In an Italian household, everything is based on food -- and anyone who wants to eat helps! I later became the resident chef for my college roommates,” Jo Marie adds. “Although my path took me into the fashion industry for 15 years, my love of cooking never stopped. Nine years ago, I started selling Pampered Chef, which gave me the ability to showcase my talent. I met Nanci through a recipe club. We realized we both had a love for cooking and decided we should combine our talent and passion.” The two women launched Inkgredients, a camp for children. Jo Marie taught crafts and Nanci taught cooking. Four years ago, the two friends opened the doors to their studio, and have enjoyed teaching many local children since. Ridgewood Culinary Studio also offers sessions for adults, classes with professional chefs, and walk in classes. “We offer a broad range of services, including private parties, birthday parties, corporate business-building events, and private cooking demonstrations. Classes are kept small to maximize hands on culinary experience,” Nanci adds. Visit www.ridgewoodculinarystudio.com for details.
