On Nov. 1, the area’s finest restaurants and caterers will join together at the Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes for the 18th Annual Fall Night of Fine Dining, a fundraiser to benefit the Center for Children and Youth in Ramsey, a division of West Bergen Mental Healthcare. “This is a delightful evening where the individual and corporate friends of West Bergen can sample the extraordinary cuisine from top rated restaurants, caterers, and dessert chefs, while supporting an organization that is vital to our community,” said Robin Kazmierczak, a member of the West Bergen Board of Trustees. “The talents of the chefs and attentive nature of everyone participating make this event a success year after year.” Beginning at 7 p.m., each restaurant will serve individual portions of their most innovative entrée, enabling attendees to experience a variety of cuisines. Chuck Russo, owner of Wine and Spirit World in HoHo-Kus, will select a variety of wines for the occasion. Music for the evening will be provided by the Modern Jazz Trio, which will perform classic standards and Broadway favorites by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers and others. Reservations may be made on the new website, www. afallnight.com or by contacting Carol Cohen, director of development at West Bergen Mental Healthcare, (201) 4443550. The Waldwick Library Book Club will host a discussion of “Kaaterskill Falls” by Allegra Goodman on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 7:15 p.m. The sacred and the secular intertwine and clash in Goodman’s observant novel, which was a National Book Award finalist. The title refers to a small upstate New York town, which is the summer home of a congregation of strict Orthodox Jews. Copies of the book are available at the library’s circulation desk. The book club welcomes new members and dropins from Waldwick and neighboring towns. The library is located at 19 East Prospect Street. For more information, call (201) 652-5104.
