The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum recently hosted its Fifth Annual Hometown Heroes Award Ceremony, recognizing New York area residents who have performed an outstanding act of community service. Michael Gargiulo, co-anchor of WNBC News Channel 4’s ‘Today in New York’ served as the event emcee, which was held on the flight deck of the Intrepid. Winners were nominated in one of four categories: community service, youth community service, service person, and mentor. The recipients were David Engle of Glen Rock, Youth Community Service Award; Christopher Schiavo of Deer Park, New York, Service Person Award; Steve Larosiliere, of New York, New York, Mentor Award; and Dr. Nicole McGrath of Montclair, Community Service Award.
