The changes were made at the most recent Ridgewood Board of Education meeting. Renovation costs to the Hawes School total $93,548 and include $51,749 for stainless steel shutters for a fire barrier at the new courtyard and $35,351 for fence installation and brick infill of two louvers that were removed and the replacement of the louvers with matching brick. Added penetrations that had top be sealed cost $4,081 and a new four-inch gas valve on the main line cost $2,367. This brings the total contract for the renovation of the Hawes School to $4,001,548. Change orders at Ridgewood High School included purchase and installation of new combination locks at a cost of $25,900 and $4,100 to shim the bottom of the lockers up one inch from the top surface of the base to two locations in the front and back. The total contract for the locker room renovation is now $190,132. At the Ridge School, required heat detectors above the ceiling due to code requirements for a plenum rated ceiling at a cost of $11,877 were offset by a $350 saving in intercom wiring reducing the total to $11,527. The total for the Ridge School project is now $3,148,606. J. KOSTER Police investigate multiple incidents The Ridgewood Police Department is investigating multiple incidents reported on Nov. 5. A Godwin Avenue business reported that during the night his business had been entered. The cash register was broken and the money that had been inside was missing. The Ridgewood Police Department is investigating. A Ridgewood resident reported that she had parked her vehicle at the rear of Starbucks on East Ridgewood Avenue on Oct. 22, and when she returned to her vehicle, her iPod was missing. The theft was reported on Nov. 5. Also on Nov. 5, a Sunset Avenue resident reported that on Oct. 31, someone had pulled his walkway lights out of the ground. Another Nov. 5 incident involved the false report of a gasoline spill from a station on Goffle Road. Police investigated, but no such spill had taken place.
