Area November 17, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 17 ‘Ghosts of Allendale’ to benefit two local causes “Ghosts of Allendale,” a new book illustrated by 14 artists from Northern Highlands Regional High School, will make its debut Sunday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m., with a book signing and talk at the John Fell House at 475 Franklin Turnpike, Allendale. The full-color book, written by local author Jim Wright, centers on a new Revolutionary War-era ghost story set in Allendale. The tale features Founding Father John Fell and a frightening night in Wolf Swamp, which is now the 107acre Celery Farm Natural Area. “Ghosts” will go on sale on Monday, Nov. 22, at the Lee Memorial Library and at Rohsler’s Allendale Nursery. Lee Memorial Library will host a talk and signing on Thursday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. Rohsler’s will host a signing on Dec. 5 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. All proceeds from the limited edition, which sells for $19.95, will benefit the Fell House and the Lillian and Stiles Thomas Scholarship Fund at Northern Highlands. “I had an idea for a ghost story about John Fell and the Celery Farm, and once I started writing it, I realized how much fun it would be to showcase the talents of our local young artists,” said Wright, who is also the author of three children’s books set at the Celery Farm. “Northern Highlands liked the idea, and off we went. I think the book will be a nifty gift for the upcoming holidays – and it benefits to two great causes.” During the talks, Wright will read an excerpt or two and answer questions. The 14 artists have also been invited to participate and may discuss their illustrations, which will be displayed via a digital projector. Illustrators from Northern Highlands include Miriam Abramik, Alex Austin, Tara Bar-on Azriel, Jade Bonacolta, Kristen Cenci, Jasmine Cherry, Dana Dench, Kaitlyn Henderson, Sean Jeong, (graduate) Kate Kelly, Matt Kim, Brittany Longhetano, Emily Masters, and Hyunhye Park.
