Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • November 3, 2010 Ridgewood This month, the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood will offer two seminars that will explore the many facets of the immigration system. On Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m., immigration attorney Michael Wildes will present “But They Are Illegal!” This session will focus on the facts and myths of the current immigration system. Wildes will demonstrate how practical immigration reform will not only save the U.S. millions of dollars but will actually pump even more millions into the sagging economy. Wildes, a former Mayor of Englewood, served on Governor Jon Corzine’s Blue Ribbon Advisory Panel on Immigrant Policy. On Friday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m., Juan Pablo Morales Estrada and Kim Watson will present “Welcoming the Immigration to be examined at two seminars countries like Guatemala come to the U.S., what happens to them and their families because of U.S. policies, and how everyone’s lives would be enriched if these policies were more humane. This evening will also look at the recommendations on immigration policy reform that are part of the Unitarian Universalist campaign called “Standing on the Side of Love.” Estrada will be joined by his wife, Kim Watson, a botanist at the New York Botanical Garden who has done field work in Michael Wildes Guatemala. Both events are co-sponsored by the Bergen County Branch of the People’s Organization for Progress, and the Social Responsibilities Council of the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, and will be held at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, 113 Cottage Place, Ridgewood.
