Robert E. “Bob” Cunningham of Hazlet, formerly of Ridgewood, and Malden, Massachusetts, died Oct. 23. He was 80. Before retiring, he was a teacher at Dwight S. Eisenhower School in Wyckoff. His teaching career spanned 47 years. He was a parishioner of Presentation RC Church in Upper Saddle River, where he sang in the choir. He is survived by his children Thomas Cunningham, Grace Grecco, John Belson, Jane Cunningham, Michael Cunningham, Mark Heller, and Victoria Lippin, and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Ann and his brother Richard “Wacka” Cunningham. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Gessmann of Ridgewood died Oct. 19. He was 87. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Before retiring, he was a sales manager for Motorola Corporation in Glen Rock. He is survived by his wife Audrey J. (nee Mundy) Gessmann of Ridgewood, his sons Warren H. Jr. of Medford, Steven G., and Robert S., all of Ridgewood, five grandchildren, and his brother Kenneth of North Bergen. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Carrie. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Barbara Lucey, nee Egberts, of Petersburg, Virginia, formerly of Ridgewood, and Ewing Township, died Oct. 26. She was 70. Before retiring, she was a customer service representative with Bohrens United Van Lines in Robbinsville. She is survived by her sons Glen R. Morrell, nee Karl of Allendale, formerly of Sebring, Florida, died Oct. 28. She was 88. She was an officer in the Grange in Northern New Jersey. She was an original parishioner and member of the church choir at the Van Riper Ellis Memorial Church in Fair Lawn. She is survived by her children James of Temecula, California and Joyce Caldwell of Tuxedo, New York, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two step grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren. Born in Cerda, Italy, he came to the United States as a young boy, settling in Nunda, New York. He graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in law. He was a founding member of the law firm of Muscarella and Bochet, currently known as Muscarella, Bochet, Edwards, and D’Alessandro in Fair Lawn. He served as an associate judge for Fair Lawn Municipal Court, and was a member of the American Bar Association. He was a member of Saint Elizabeth RC Church in Wyckoff, a life member and past exalted ruler of B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #1863, formerly of Fair Lawn. He is survived by his wife, the former Loretta (nee Mercuro) Riccio of Wyckoff, his son Michael J. Muscarella Jr. of Hackensack, his stepdaughters Patricia C. Rossi of Somerset, and Pamela V. Riccio of Wyckoff, and one grandson. He was predeceased by his first wife Anna (nee Scialla) Muscarella. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Leonard Potash of Ridgewood died Oct. 27. He was 75. Arrangements were made by Gutterman and Musicant in Hackensack. John Avery Schafer of Saddle River and Ocean Pines, Maryland, died Oct. 18. He was 77. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a graduate of Bethany College, and an electrical engineer for Western Union in New Jersey before retiring to Ocean Pines, Maryland. He is survived by his wife Cynthia Clayton Schafer, his children Cynthia Mann, Elizabeth Schafer, and Sara Mellinger, and seven grand-

MOMs host anniversary meeting
The Our Lady of Mount Carmel MOMs will celebrate its 20th Anniversary on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 9 a.m. downstairs in the OLMC Parish Center, located at 1 Passaic Street. Twenty years ago, MOMs was founded with seven members; today, the group numbers over 100. Past and present members are welcome to reminisce and share experiences. Attendees are asked to bring a 4x5 photo picture to add to the MOMs Anniversary quilt. Anyone interested in becoming a member can visit www.olmcmoms.org. United Methodist plans events
Kinnara, a professional choir of men and women from the New York-New Jersey area, will present a concert in the sanctuary at the Ridgewood United Methodist Church on Friday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. The ensemble, conducted by J.D. Burnett, interim choral director at Montclair State University, is largely comprised of graduates of Westminster Choir College. A donation of $12 is requested. Proceeds from this event will benefit the church’s organ fund. On Saturday, Nov. 13 the church will host Ridgewood Cares: A Festival of Opportunities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The festival will include a wide range of documentary films, a photography exhibit, speakers, and presentations on a variety of issues and solutions, dance performances, the sale of Fair Trade and handcrafted items from craftspeople in impoverished countries, and multiple opportunities to engage personally with local and international aid groups and their representatives. Bible Read, the weekly Bible study with Pastor Victor, welcomes new members. The group meets on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. in the lounge. No special knowledge of the Bible is necessary. Weekly attendance is not mandatory; each study is self contained. Refreshments and coffee are provided. The Ridgewood United Methodist Church is located at 100 Dayton Street.
