Save our van: A few years back, we were able to acquire a van due to the generosity of a local church. Since then we have made countless deliveries of groceries and other items to families. Now we need your help to keep the van in operation (maintenance, licensing, gas and oil). If you want to help by contributing or by organizing a fundraiser, please let us know. This family needs help: Eight year-old daughter Alison was diagnosed with cancer this past spring. Alison’s sisters Kristin, aged 6 and Caitlyn, aged 4 have noticed all of the changes. The family doesn’t do anything special (like go out to the movies or go do things ) or buy anything other than food. Their parents are irritable and overwhelmed and the atmosphere has been tense. More than once they have heard their mother crying in the bathroom. This is a newly referred family. As always, thank you for helping the children and their families! Registration is underway for the Ridgewood Baseball and Softball Association’s Summer Recreation Softball program. Softball is open to girls entering first grade through high school. Drills, contests, and games will be tailored for all ages, allowing for plenty of small group and individual attention, and fun-filled activities for the entire group. The sessions will be held at Veterans’ Field from June 28 through Aug. 6. Sign up for individual weeks, or receive a discount by signing up for five or all six weeks. There will be two sessions per day: 10 a.m. to noon, and 1 to 3 p.m. One signup fee Softball registration underway allows participants to attend one or both sessions each day. Fees for the program are $70 per week, $325 for five weeks, and $375 for all six weeks. Lunch hour supervision is available for $5 per day. Private lessons are available for $25 per 30-minute session. Girls who sign up for at least one week of summer recreation are eligible to take private lessons throughout all six weeks.
