The Northern New Jersey Chapter of the AIA gave Peck an award for service to architects in 2009, making her the first non industry person to be so honored. Peck emphasized the important roles that the Glen Rock Historical Society and the AIA have played in helping make Loven’s name more widely recognized. The architect’s daughter, Mimi Loven Mathey, recently made a gift of her father’s original plans. The group looks forward to publishing a list of known Loven works when more research has been completed. The booklet is available at the Glen Rock Library and may be downloaded from the Glen Rock Historical Society’s website, glenrockhistory.org.

As a consequence, homeowners often will cite a builder’s name, such as Cheel or Peterson, as the architect without knowing that Loven was the designer. Since Loven worked with just about all the major builders during that era, he often is not given proper credit for his designs. Peck has been working to give Loven credit for his unique designs and to help people recognize his work. That knowledge, she hopes, will encourage the preser-
