May 12, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 5 Ridgewood School board names Michele Lenhard president The Ridgewood Board of Education has elected incumbent Michele Lenhard as its president. Robert Hutton was re-elected as the board’s vice president, and returning trustee Charles Reilly was seated. Department investigates recent thefts The Ridgewood Police Department is investigating some petty thefts which took place at the end of April at several different locations in Ridgewood. On April 28 a Westwood resident reported that she had been a patient at Valley Hospital a few days earlier and when she was in the Valley Hospital Emergency Room someone had removed five checks from her purse. On the same day a South Irving Street resident reported that his laptop had been taken from his care while he was parked in his own driveway overnight. Also on April 28, a Ridgewood resident reported that she had been in a nail salon on North Broad Street and had removed her ring and placed it in a container. The patron left without remembering the retrieve the ring and when she returned a short while later it had disappeared. On April 29. a 61-year-old Garfield motorist was stopped on South Maple Avenue and the was charged with driving while intoxicated, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of paraphernalia. He was released pending a future appearance in Ridgewood Municipal Court. The police department notes that the department will continue its increased enforcement of DWI laws. Officers will be looking for signs of drivers operating vehicles while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and taking appropriate action. J. KOSTER Reilly and Lenhard ran as uncontested candidates in the board election. Lenhard received 3,216 votes and Reilly received 3,105 votes. The school budget was rejected by voters with 2,639 votes opposed and 2,537 in favor. The board and the Ridgewood Village Council will be considering the budget in the near future. J.
