Detective Peter Youngberg of the Ridgewood Police Department has concluded a two-week investigation of the theft and subsequent pawning of jewelry from a home on Godwin Avenue with the arrest of a 19-year-old man from Pennsylvania. The jewelry was located in a jewelry store in Ridgewood and Detective Youngberg arrested the man, who was charged with receiving stolen property, valued in excess of $4,000. The man was released after posting bail pending a first appearance in Ridgewood Municipal Court. The jewelry had been stolen on April 10, and the arrest was made on April 26. In a separate case, a Maple Avenue residence was reportedly entered on April 20, and numerous electronic devices were taken.
Detective solves Godwin Avenue jewelry theft
On April 22, a doctor’s office on Ackerman Avenue was entered. Cash and hypodermic needles were taken. On April 23, an employee at Valley Hospital reported that her ATM card had been used numerous times without her knowledge. She found that the card had been stolen from her purse when it was in a locker in the hospital. On April 26, a Ridgewood business owner reported that he had been picking up rental chairs on North Walnut Street. He had placed a stack of chairs in the front yard and went for more when he noticed a gray vehicle pulling away carrying his chairs. These events are under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau. J. KOSTER
College Club’s ‘Capers-Opoloy’ is in the works. ‘Capers’ is a fun musical of dancing and singing around the game board. Proceeds go towards College Club’s Education Fund, which provides grants in aid to young female high school graduates entering or attending fouryear colleges or universities. The performances will be at 8 p.m. at the Ridgewood Woman’s Club on May 6 ($10 payable at the door) or May 7 ($45 which includes the show, dinner & DJ dancing).
