Gertrude Alexander, nee Graham, of Ridgewood, formerly of Brooklyn, New York, died March 25. She was 91. She is survived by her daughter Virginia Mulry, three grandchildren, one great grandchild, and her sister Catherine Phillipsen. She was predeceased by her son William H. Alexander. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Rose S. Blaustein, nee Temkin, of Ridgewood, formerly of Franklin Lakes and Mill River, Massachusetts, has died. She is survived by her children Carole Barr and Richard Blaustein, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and her sisters Ida Gallin and Bernice Friedstein. She was predeceased by her husband Elliot Harold Blaustein. Arrangements were made by Robert Schoem’s Menorah Chapel in Paramus. Memorial donations may be sent to a charity of choice. Anne T. Gallant, nee Taylor, of Whiting, formerly of Ramsey and Ridgewood, died March 22. She had been a volunteer at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. She is survived by her husband George of Whiting, her sons George of Pine Bush, New York, Stephen of Brewster, Massachusetts, and John of Point Pleasant Beach, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Andrew J. Herschel of Ridgewood, formerly of Chicago, died March 17. He was 92. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He had worked for Curtiss-Wright Corp. as a mechanical engineer. He had been a partner in an indoor tennis business. He was a participant in the U.S. Professional Tennis Association. He is survived by his daughter Janet Herschel O’Brien of Sarasota, Florida, two grandchildren, and his sister Mary Swanberg of Half Moon Bay, California. He was predeceased by his daughter Marguerite Herschel Mittendorf, MD. Arrangements were made by the
National Cremation Society.

Helen Rose McKeon, nee Ritzler, of Ridgewood, formerly of Ho-Ho-Kus, died March 18. She was 92. Before retiring in 1982, she was a secretary with the Ridgewood Board of Education for many years. She was a parishioner of Saint Luke’s RC Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, and a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was a former member of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by her children Sheila Krasnomowitz-McCullough of Ogdensburg, Margaret Koeck of Lindenhurst, Illinois, Rosanne Mead of Ridgewood, and Vincent McKeon of Ridgewood, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Vincent E. McKeon and son Brian McKeon. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. She was a pediatric medical assistant with Maple Avenue Pediatrics in Fair Lawn. She is survived by her daughter Caroline Dix of Hawthorne, her father Al and stepmother Joyce Pabon of Wayne, her sister Phyllis Falsetta of Hancock, New York, and her companion Rick Vitagliano. Sarah Peckworth Rockhold of Ridgewood died March 22. She was 100. She operated a sheep and grain farm, Temora, for over 30 years in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She managed two restaurants for the McGraw-Hill Publishing Company from 1934 to 1942. She was a charter member of the board of trustees of The Valley Hospital and was made an honorary trustee in 1978. She was a member of the alumni association at Russell Sage College in Troy, New York and a recipient of the school’s Doris Crockett

Medal for distinguished service to college and community in 1992. She was active at Bergen Community College, where she helped develop and oversee the Nursing Committee. She had been president of the board of directors of Nursing Service, Inc., for over 40 years. She was the eldest and longest tenured member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ridgewood. She is survived by nieces and nephews and their children. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. She is survived by her husband Richard Shockley, her children Cynthia Borsi of Merritt Island, Florida, Paulette Martinez of Brownsville, Texas, William Shockley of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, and Brian Shockley of Brooklyn, New York, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and her siblings Kathleen Boughman of Huntingtown, Maryland, Dianne Martin of New York, New York, and Joan Andreoli of Mahwah. A memorial service will be held April 8 at noon at White’s Pond at the end of Pennington Avenue in Waldwick. William Edward Tanis Sr. of Upper Saddle River died March 22. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He had been a business representative for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He was a member of the AFL-CIO and retired secretary treasurer of the New Jersey State Council of Machinists. He was a member of the Pompton Plains Reformed Bible Church. He is survived by his wife Linda, his children William E. Jr. of Bridgeton, David B. of Warwick, New York, and four grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral in Wyckoff.
