Holly Rickert of Ulrich, Inc. in Ridgewood has been chosen as one of the 50 nationwide regional winners in Sub-Zero, Inc. and Wolf Appliance, Inc.’s biennial kitchen design contest. Seven distinguished industry professionals evaluated more than 1,400 entries to determine the winning finalists. “Since the inaugural competition in 1993, our kitchen design contest has become the most highly regarded award program in the kitchen design industry,” said Paul Leuthe, corporate marketing manager for Sub-Zero and Wolf. “With each contest, we gain insight into kitchen design trends and see how top designers and architects seamlessly incorporate Sub-Zero and Wolf kitchen appliances into their remodeling and new home projects. The contest is also our way of recognizing the important role the design community plays in making Sub-Zero and Wolf a household name when it involves beautiful kitchen design.” Sub-Zero and Wolf enlisted the following professionals to select regional winners based on superior use of space, beautiful kitchen design, and integration of products: Jamie Drake of Drake Design Associates, New York, NY; Jeffrey DeMure, AIA, of Jeffrey DeMure + Associates, El Dorado Hills, CA; Cheryl Hamilton-Gray, CKD, of Hamilton-Gray Design, Carlsbad, CA; Matthew Quinn of Design Galleria Ltd., Atlanta, GA; Barbara Houston of Houston + Associates, Vancouver, BC, Canada; Dalia Tamari of Dalia Kitchen Design, Boston, MA; and Doug Durbin of nuHaus, Highland Park, IL.

The only award not judged by the panel of seven judges is the Designers’ Choice Award, which is voted on by the design community via an online ballot. Members of the design community may visit www.subzero.com/designerschoice until March 25. They will have a chance to vote for the best kitchen design from all of the regional winners. “This is the second year we have offered this online voting. It’s a great way for designers around the world to
offer their insight into what they think is great design,” said Leuthe. The top 50 Kitchen Design Contest finalists receive a $500 cash prize and a memorable trip for two to The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida for a four-day celebration the week of March 24 where kitchen design will be celebrated and recognized and the national, designers’ choice, and international winners will be announced. Contestants are competing for more than $115,000 in cash prizes that will be distributed to the regional, national, special awards, and international winners. Sub-Zero and Wolf will announce the 2010-11 Kitchen Design Contest this summer. For more information, visit www.subzero.com/contest.
