Dinosaur Fossil and Mineral Camp set Dinosaurs Rock Fossil and Mineral Camp will be offered by the Ridgewood Parks & Recreation Department for students in kindergarten through grade five on April 9. The program will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Stable. Participants will see and touch a large-scale museumquality exhibit of dinosaur and fossil specimens. Hands-on activities include breaking open crystal-filled geodes, panning for genuine gemstones, and excavating real fossils like dinosaur bones and shark teeth. Participants will learn to move like Degas, get colorful like Gaugin, cover up like Renoir, get to the point like Seurat, hold still like Cezanne, and mix it up like Van Gogh. Classes will begin the week of April 15. Participants are grouped according to age and experience and will learn the proper stance, tennis terminology, technique, game rules, and strategy. Youth classes are offered on either Thursdays or Fridays at the Bellair Tennis Courts. Adult classes are offered on Friday mornings at the Somerville Tennis Courts. Lenten sermon series announced Pastor Bert Watkins of the First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood will present “The Book of Revelation: Horoscope or Horrorscope?” during the month of March. Various scriptures from these mysterious, apocalyptic final words from the New Testament will be presented, along with insights into understanding this popular book. Revelation is a work filled with surprises and comforting words for people who live in tough times. Golf camp planned Ridgewood Parks and Recreation and Total Golf Adventures will offer a golf camp during the spring school recess. The program is available to village youth in kindergarten through eighth grade. Instructors will teach all aspects of the game, including swing fundamentals, rules and etiquette, course management, and scoring. The three-day camp will be held at the Irene Habernickel Family Park on Hillcrest Road from April 6 through 8. Students in kindergarten through grades three will meet from 1 to 2 p.m., and students in grades four through eight will meet from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 9 will be used for rain makeup, if necessary. The cost per child is $60 for three one-hour sessions with all equipment provided by Total Golf Adventures.
