PSE&G to begin gas facility upgrades in village
Public Service Electric & Gas is upgrading and replacing gas facilities in Ridgewood to ensure safe, reliable utility service for area residents and business owners. The work is being completed as part of the company’s two-year accelerated schedule of infrastructure improvements being undertaken to stimulate New Jersey’s economy. PSE&G is replacing a six-inch plastic gas main and associated gas service lines on East Ridgewood Avenue
The Mary Therese Rose Fund will be celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day on Sunday, March 28 at 3 p.m. at Lakeland Regional High School in Wanaque. World renowned Celtic folksinger Cathie Ryan will be performing. An Irish American singer and songwriter, Ryan has been called a “thrilling traditional vocalist,” by the Boston Globe. Billboard Magazine says her voice is “enchanting,” and The Irish Echo says her singing is “mature, masterful -- at times magnificent.” Since her acclaimed sevenyear tenure as lead singer of Cherish the Ladies, Ryan has released four critically acclaimed CDs. She is featured on more than 40 compilations of Celtic music. She tours internationally, headlining at performing arts centers, folk festivals, and guest starring with symphony orchestras. A captivating performer, Ryan’s shows are renowned for their blend of song, story, and the virtuoso playing of her awardwinning band. “Anyone wondering what constitutes excellence in Irish American singing today, need only attend a Cathie Ryan concert...,” according to The Wall Street Journal.

The concert will be followed a Fish ‘N Chips dinner. Prices are $30 for the concert only, $40 for dinner and concert, or $15 for dinner alone. For more information, visit www.marysfoundation.org. The Mary Therese Rose Fund allows children to reclaim the joys of childhood. There are many children with disabilities that require certain needs to be able to make life even more of a pleasure. The fund pays for expenses that insurance does not cover. This includes hearing aids, walkers, wheelchairs, braces, and even activities such as therapeutic horseback riding. Just as Mary was able to enjoy her life to the fullest and have a memorable childhood despite her limitations, the fund’s mission is to assist in enabling special needs children to reach this goal. The Mary Therese Rose Fund assists children from the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. It is with great pleasure that such children could cherish their valuable childhoods and be able to flourish in development. between Broad Street and Maple Avenue. Work will continue on West Ridgewood Avenue from Wilsey Square to Monroe Street. About 4,000 feet of new gas main and services will be installed. Construction is scheduled to begin on or about March 15 and will continue until about May 28, 2010. In addition to daytime hours, work will take place from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. on East Ridgewood Avenue from Broad Street to Maple Avenue. Some lane restrictions and detours will be necessary at times during the project, but interruptions will be kept to a minimum. Local police will be on site to direct traffic flow. PSE&G regrets any inconvenience the project may cause. For everyone’s safety, PSE&G crews use work area protection. Traffic cones and utility work signs will allow the job to be done safely. The utility reminds motorists to slow down when driving through the area.
