Ridgewood March 10, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 9 Ridgewood philanthropist David F. Bolger, president of The Bolger Foundation and chairman of Bolger & Co., Inc., recently extended his generosity to two projects. Bolger has donated $600,000 with an additional pledge of $100,000, if needed, to cover 100 percent of the cost to build a Helicopter landing pad, river front funding donated helicopter landing area on top of Waverly Health Center’s Centennial Pavilion located in Waverly, Iowa. The new “Lois Coonradt/Bolger Helipad” will be located on the north half of the hospital’s roof. “Because my son John is a flight paramedic and also a trustee of The Bolger Foundation, we realize the value of a new helipad for the community,” Bolger said. This new project will enhance the safety of the pilots, health care team and community members who need emergency transportation. During 2009, 90 helicopters landed at Waverly Health Center to transport patients to Iowa City, Des Moines, Mason City and Rochester, MN. “We are extremely appreciative of The Bolger Foundation’s gift to the hospital,” stated Mike Trachta, WHC chief executive officer. “Over the years, pilots have expressed concern with the obstacles around our current helipad. The new, state-of-the-art helipad we are now able to build will provide many benefits for our patients.” Bolger also donated $1.105 million to fund Phase I of a waterfront landscaping plan at The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida. The gift will be used to make improvements to the estate’s 66-acre property along the waterfront area by connecting the Ca’d’Zan mansion to the south property line with pathways, seating, lighting, and landscaping. Children will have their creativity challenged at Spring Fling Art Camp with Abrakadoodle during spring break. Participants will learn to move like Degas, get colorful like Gaugin, cover up like Renoir, get to the point like Seurat, hold still like Cezanne, and mix it up like Van Gogh. Offered to students in kindergarten through grade three, this workshop will be held April 5, 6 and 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Stable, 259 North Maple Avenue, Spring Fling Art Camp planned Ridgewood. The cost of $155 includes all materials. Participants are asked to bring a snack and a lunch each day.
