Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • March 10, 2010 Area The candidates for the Glen Rock Board of Education this year will include three incumbents seeking re-election and a newcomer who is challenging one of their three available seats. Carlo Cella III, Sanjiv Ohri, and Sheldon Hirschberg will run as incumbents. They will be challenged by Jacquelyn Johnson. There is no contest in Ridgewood this year. Charles Reilly, a former trustee, will be seeking a new term on the board after a Candidates compete for school board seats hiatus of some years after he declined to seek a new term when he was an incumbent. Incumbent Michele Lenhard will also be seeking another term. Trustee Joseph Vallerini had opted not to seek a new term this year. The school board elections will be held April 20. On that date, registered voters will also have the opportunity to cast their ballots on the local school budgets for the 2010-11 school year. J. KOSTER The Ridgewood Concert Band presents the fifth in a series of six concerts on Friday, March 12 at 8 p.m. at West Side Presbyterian Church, 6 Monroe Street. Conducted by Dr. Chris Wilhjelm, “Spring’s around the Corner” concert will feature Bucky Pizzarelli, jazz guitar legend, and a guest conducting appearance by James Keene, director of bands emeritus and professor of music emeritus University of Illinois. The program will include the “Festive Overture” by Shostakovitch, a premiere performance of “Symphony #1” by Jonathan Newman, “English Dances” by Malcolm Arnold, and favorite big band standards. Bucky Pizzarelli to perform The band is also hosting the Ridgewood High School Wind Ensemble, conducted by Jeffrey Haas. The group will play a prelude at 7:30 p.m. before the 8 p.m. concert and will join the RCB for a selection.
