Page 10 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • March 10, 2010 Glen Rock Council welcomes two full-time police officers by John Koster The Glen Rock Borough Council welcomed two probationary police officers to their new roles as full-time Glen Rock police officers at last week’s public meeting. Lucas Dorney was a two-year veteran of the campus security police force at the New Jersey Institute of Technology before he joined the Glen Rock Police Department as a probationary police officer last year. Dorney holds a degree in psychology from Lock Haven University in central Pennsylvania. Greg Carter studied at the Essex County Police Academy and received a degree in criminal justice from Sussex County Community College before joining the Glen Rock Police Department. Chief Fred Stahman and a halfdozen senior police officers came out to endorse the two new officers and praise their probationary performance, as the council welcomed them to Glen Rock’s municipal team. The council also introduced an ordinance to change the badge fee at the Glen Rock Municipal Pool for the 2010 season. Council members said the update reflects a longer pool year and increases in operating costs. Once the ordinance is adopted, badges issued before May 16 will cost $35 for children under five years of age, $60 for children ages eight to 11 with adult supervision, $70 for youngsters 12 to 17 years old, $100 for adults from 18 to 61, and $20 for senior citizens. The family membership cap will be set at $310; this cap does not include a resident caretaker. Those residents who buy pool badges after May 16 should expect to pay $40 for children under age five, $70 for children six to 11, $80 for youngsters aged 12 to 17, and $110 for adults 18 to 61. The senior fee will be $25 and the family cap will be $335 for all members of the immediate family or household. County plans (continued from page 3) also opposed the project and said it would interfere with wildlife and threaten property values. Residents also commented on the fact that they had not been kept informed of the county’s plans, but were told that the council and administration had not been kept up to date either. “You learned of this when we learned of it,” said Councilwoman Anne Zusy. Most of the dialogue was civil, though one man was removed by two police officers after he implied that council members were on the take and threatened them bodily. The residents understood that Bergen County, rather than Ridgewood, is in control of the proposed project’s future, but some of them urged the village council to take a tougher stance. The same residents, and others, had spoken before the council last year and the county appeared to have backed off on the proposal due to opposition by the neighbors. “We’re being haunted by this project,” said one man. “It’s going for our yard and it’s not going to stop.” Correction OCEANFRONT HOUSE with Private Beach Access FOR SALE A pictorial advertisement that appeared in the March 3, 2010 edition of Ridgewood TIMES/Villadom TIMES, referred to Daniela Musano of Araya Rebirth as having a business partner.
