Golf camp planned Ridgewood Parks and Recreation and Total Golf Adventures will offer a golf camp during the spring school recess. The program is available to village youth in kindergarten through eighth grade. Instructors will teach all aspects of the game, including swing fundamentals, rules and etiquette, course management, and scoring. The three-day camp will be held at the Irene Habernickel Family Park on Hillcrest Road from April 6 through 8. Students in kindergarten through grades three will meet from 1 to 2 p.m., and students in grades four through eight will meet from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 9 will be used for rain makeup, if necessary. The cost per child is $60 for three one-hour sessions with all equipment provided by Total Golf Adventures. Resume coaching available As an outreach to individuals seeking employment, former executive recruiter, technical writer, and engineer Merrill Rutman will offer private 30-minute resume coaching sessions at the Ridgewood Public Library. Beginning March 9, sessions will be held on Tuesday evenings by appointment. To get the most value from the coaching session, job seekers should bring a current resume, an outdated resume, or a list of previous positions and responsibilities. Instruction will cover the essential components of an effective resume and the information needed to prepare or improve a resume. Coaching sessions are by free and open to the public. Preschool classes offered The Ridgewood Recreation Department is offering multiple classes for children at The Stable, 259 North Maple Avenue. My First Art Class for children ages 20 to 42 months and their guardians will meet on Fridays from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. beginning March 12. This series focuses on painting, drawing, sculpting, reading, playing games, and having fun. Activities are designed to provide opportunities to use their senses while building fine motor skills, language, creativity, and cognitive skills. The cost is $110 for the sixweek session and includes safe, non-toxic materials. KidzArt Discover! for children ages three-and-a-half to five years of age will meet on Mondays from 1 to 2 p.m.

Holland will return to the Stable Art Gallery to exhibit “Through the Lens II,” which features vibrant images ranging from flower and nature shots to scenes from Europe. The exhibit will be on display throughout the month of March. Holland began her artistic career nine years ago by creating greeting cards for family and friends. Her cards are now sold throughout Fairfield County, Connecticut and her photographs are on display at businesses in both Connecticut and New Jersey. She is a member of the Candlewood Camera Club of Connecticut and has received a host of accolades for her images, including an outstanding achievement award from the International Society of Photographers, a first place in Westport Magazine’s photo contest, and a first place in the Orlando Sentinel’s photo contest. Gallagher to perform children’s show Kurt Gallagher will perform at the Community Center in Ridgewood Village Hall, 131 North Maple Avenue, on Thursday, April 8 at 1:30 p.m. Admission is $5. Charcoal Drawing and Pastel Painting is available to students in grades four through eight on Mondays from 3:30 to
4:45 p.m. beginning March 8. From drawing basics to free interpretation, each student will receive personal attention from start to finish. The cost is $60 for six classes. A list of materials to purchase will be provided at registration. Photography is available to students in grades four through eight on Tuesdays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. beginning March 9. This interactive, hands-on course of digital photography will stimulate imaginations and teach new ways to look at the world through a camera lens. Students will create black and white images and collages, and will learn techniques including micro zooming. A gallery exhibit will conclude the session. The cost is $100 for six classes; all materials will be provided, including cameras. Students in grades five and up can learn to draw a fashion figure and design various outfits in Fashion Design. This class will meet on Thursdays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. beginning March 11. The cost is $54 for six classes. Materials to bring include colored pencils, a small box of watercolors, and an 11” by14” drawing pad. Cut-a-thon to benefit autism planned Rita’s Snips for Pips at 12 South Broad Street is hosting a Cut-a-thon to benefit Alpine Learning Group, a non-profit education and treatment program specializing in serving individuals with autism. Health Fair set A free Health Fair will be held March 6 at Ridgewood’s Old Paramus Reformed Church. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Coordinated by Parish Nurse Carol O’Neill, R.N., the fair will feature a variety of health programs, exhibits, and information about available services. Heart health, acupuncture, massage, and area resources will be highlighted. Members of the public are invited and to participate in hands-on experiences. Refreshments will be available. Groups fight cancer The Pretty in Pink Foundation, in conjunction with The Woman’s Club of Ridgewood and the Junior Department of the Club, will present “Fight Against Breast Cancer” at a March 10 luncheon. This event will be held at noon at the clubhouse, 215 West Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood. Lunch will be catered by La Strada in Midland Park. A business meeting will follow, and the program will begin at 1:30 p.m. Luncheon reservations are $20 per person, which includes a donation to fight breast cancer. The group’s Pizza and Parable Night will be Friday, March 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will include a pizza supper, and a presentation and discussion of the movie “Up.” Pizza and crafts will be at 6 p.m.; the movie and popcorn will follow at 6:45 p.m. The cost is $5 per person or $15 per family.
