Ridgewood March 3, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 7 The Ridgewood Village Council has introduced an ordinance to reduce the number of police sergeants permitted by the Ridgewood Police Department’s official table of organization. This change would reduce the number of sergeants from “an amount not to exceed six sergeants to an amount not to exceed five sergeants.” In a separate series of cost-cutting measures, the council New ordinance would reduce number of sergeants approved some shared-service contracts by resolution. The council voted for a shared service agreement with the Ridgewood Board of Education that will provide the school system with the services of a licensed electrician and skilled building maintenance and repair personnel from Ridgewood’s Traffic and Signals Division. The council also approved an agreement for the fueling and maintenance of designated vehicles owned by the Ridgewood Board of Education. Midland Park and Waldwick will also be entering into shared services agreements with Ridgewood for vehicle maintenance. Midland Park’s contract covers fueling, maintenance, and repair of designated vehicles. Waldwick’s contract will cover vehicle maintenance and repair service for designated vehicles that belong to the Waldwick Fire Department. J. Super Science Saturday, North Jersey’s largest one-day science and technology extravaganza, will examine that question on Saturday, March 6, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Ridgewood High School, 627 East Ridgewood Avenue. Admission is free. Scientists from the renowned Franklin Institute in Philadelphia will stage a special presentation on life in outer space at 9:30 a.m. The new show will add excitement to an already fascinating event that is celebrating its 22nd year of showcasing the wonders of science and technology. Back on Earth, visitors of all ages will enjoy a full morning of educational exhibits, shows and demonstrations. Super Science Saturday welcomes 2,000 visitors each year to wide-ranging exhibits and showings on biology, physics, health and medicine, geology, ecology, astronomy and many other subjects. The always-popular paper airplane contest will again be at noon, and model rockets, a Super Science Saturday highlight, will be launched from the football field at 1:20 p.m. Refreshments will be available throughout the morning in the high school cafeteria. For the second-consecutive year, Super Science Saturday is made possible through the support of Valley Hospital and the Ridgewood Education Foundation.
