Emmanuel asks... Can board School You Help?honors
The Glen Rock Board of Education recently presented the annual Robert Ax Award to Glen Rock High School math teacher Terry Choma and Glen Rock Middle School math teacher Carlo Santaniello. Choma graduated from Fair Lawn High School and earned her degree in mathematics from Montclair State University. She holds a master’s degree from Columbia in computer science and education. Choma had taught in Paterson and was teaching in Fair Lawn when the Glen Rock teacher she replaced won a lottery and left the district in 1992. Hired mid-year on an emergency basis as a replacement for the lottery winner, Choma quickly became a mainstay of the mathematics program at Glen Rock High School, one of the teachers respected by students and colleagues alike for her knowledge of the 4-29-09 karen/janine subject and her ability to convey the information to the EmmanuelHelp3x.75(4-29-09) students. She teaches advanced algebra and calculus at the senior high school level. She has served as the Mathematics 3 x .75

Renewing interest in life’s joys
To ease the pain of spinal stenosis, sciatica, and lumbar issues, Richard Kuiken received an epidural at a local hospital. He then selected The David F. Bolger Post-acute Care Unit (PACU) at Christian Health Care Center for his physical and occupational therapy.
“I was in the PACU for about five weeks. The therapy was good, and the nursing staff was wonderful. My wife volunteers at Christian Health Care Center, and we know a lot of people who work there. Overall, I was impressed and pleased with the whole facility. It was good and clean and that is important to me. The dietitian was excellent. At the time I wasn’t eating very well. She evaluated me like I was her son. With the PACU’s therapy, I’m back to spending time as an amateur radio operator… I love speaking to people in foreign countries!”
