Many of the agency’s client families have been affected by job losses, illness, and the absence of one or more parent. In many cases, the working parents in these families are unable to afford child care or provide any recreational opportunities to their children when school is out. For over 40 years, SSA has provided camperships for boys and girls who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend day camp. SSA provides basic supplemental financial assistance and case management services to individuals in Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Ho-Ho-Kus, Midland Park, Waldwick, and Wyckoff. Donations to send children to camp may be sent to the Social Service Association, 6 Station Plaza, Ridgewood, NJ 07450. Summer Day Camp available The Gifted Child Society’s Summer Super Stars camp program has openings available for eligible children (age years through grade eight). The session will run from July 19 through Aug. 6. Mornings include programs in science, technology, arts, and humanities. Afternoons include swimming, individual and team sports and games, computers, workshops on drama, arts and crafts, book clubs, chess, and more. Fridays are for field trips and on-site events. The camp is held at Northern Highlands Regional High School, 298 Hillside Avenue in Allendale. Call (201) 4446530 or visit www.gifted.org.
