Ridgewood High School’s Andrew Brickfield and Noah Suzuki took fifth place in the United States for their presentation at the DECA International Career Development Center in Louisville, Kentucky, at the culmination of the business studies competition. Brickfield and Suzuki were the top honorees of the 15 Ridgewood High School students who advanced to the DECA nationals after Ridgewood’s team advanced at the regional and state contests. They placed in the top 10 in the nation in their tests in travel and tourism decision making, and both young men qualified for medals given to the top 20 national competitors. At the grand awards ceremony, Brickfield and Suzuki learned they were in fifth place in the United States in travel and tourism decision making. Other Ridgewood High School students who made it to the nationals included Jessica Burnside, Christopher Garbarini, Evan Hughes, and Jessica Merejo, who attended

the Senior Management Institute. Alex Breitbart, Andrew Burdack, and Jun Kim attended the Leadership Development Academy to prepare themselves for the role of DECA officers next school year. Max Leepson and Jon Byon completed a 30-page marketing research paper on enhancing the human resources program at a company of their choice
and offered a 10-minute presentation. Ryan Ardelle took part in role play in principles of marketing, Alexa Siegel and Jackie Watson in hospitality team decision making, and Jeremy Edelberg in apparel and accessories. J. KOSTER
Summer entertainment at the Kasschau Shell will begin on June 3 with an 8 p.m. concert featuring the Ridgewood High School bands. Now in its 52nd year of free summer entertainment, Under the Stars at the Kasschau Shell will offer two concerts weekly, Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the Veteran’s Field band shell. Each week, a variety of family

entertainment will be offered. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket. Restrooms are barrier-free. The Ridgewood Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company will perform on Tuesday, June 8 at 8:30 p.m. This concert is sponsored by Boiling Springs Savings Band and the Village of Ridgewood.
