June 2, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 7 Ridgewood Temple to launch Summer Music Fridays on June 25 Temple Israel and JCC of Ridgewood will launch its new series of Summer Music Fridays on June 25. Performing at this first concert will be synagogue member Dr. Tamara Reps Freeman, who will play works by J. S. Bach, Claude Debussy, and Alfred Shnittke on the violin, accompanied by Robert Cleary, a piano professor at Bergen Community College. She will conclude the recital with Kabbalat Shabbat melodies on her 1935 Joseph Bausch viola that was rescued from the Holocaust. The program will begin at 7 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception, followed by Dr. Freeman’s performance. At 8 p.m., attendees will celebrate Kabbalat Shabbat in the sanctuary. Admission is free, but voluntary donations of any amount will be appreciated to support Music at Temple Israel. Freeman performs with the Bergen County Adelphi Chamber Ensemble and as a freelance orchestral musi�� cian and soloist. She has a Doctorate of Music Arts degree from Rutgers University. Since 1982, she has taught instrumental music and conducted ensembles in the Ridgewood Public Schools. She has also conducted numerous teen honors ensembles throughout New Jersey, including two All-State Opera Festivals. Freeman is an adjunct professor of music at Bergen Community College where she teaches violin, viola, and cello. She is chair of the Music Committee at Temple Israel. Located at 475 Grove Street in Ridgewood, Temple Israel and JCC is an egalitarian Conservative synagogue with members from over a dozen Bergen County communities.
