Page 8 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • July 28, 2010 Area The new Veterans of Foreign Wars District Two (Bergen County) Commander John F. Kelly (Mahwah Post 7124) and his staff of officers were elected and installed recently at the District’s Annual Convention in Garfield VFW Post 2867. Out-going District Commander W. Steve Vreeland (Franklin Lakes Post 5702), acted as installation officer. The newly elected members of Kelly’s staff are: Thomas Marshall (Little Ferry Post 809), senior vice commander; Joe Brooks (Paramus Post 6699), junior vice commander; Elmer Winterfeld (Hasbrouck Heights Post 4591), quartermaster; William Thomson (Washington Township Post 6192), judge advocate; Frank Zabransky (Little Ferry Post 809), chaplain; Donald Graham (Midland Park-Wyckoff Post 7086), surgeon; George Lewis (North Arlington Post 4697), one-year trustee; Joe Flynn (North Arlington Post 4697), two-year trustee; and Charles Tanner (Glen Rock Post 850), three-year trustee. In Kelly’s remarks to the members in attendance at the installation, he said that failure IS an option, because if we do not open ourselves to failure, we won’t get anything done. Every one of us needs to help other vets, active duty members, and their families, he said, because we are “Veterans Serving Together.” His letter to the 41 Post Commanders in District Two will state more about how he expects this to be done and what he sees as the direction of the district for at least the next year. Kelly concluded his remarks by saying that at the end of June 2011, he wants to be able to say, “We had fun and that together we got something accomplished”.
