Stevens TaeKwonDo moves to new location
Gary Stevens TaeKwonDo recently moved to its new location at 175 Rock Road (in the back building behind CVS) in Glen Rock Stevens began his training in Tae Kwon Do in 1973 under legendary Grandmaster Richard Chun, Ninth Dan by Kukkiwon (World Tae Kwon Do Federation) and Moo Duk Kwan, one of the highest-ranking master instructors in the United States. Stevens was awarded his first degree black belt in 1975, after only two years of training. He continued to train with the Grandmaster and became one of his most diligent students and a popular instructor in the Grandmaster’s school. Master Stevens now holds a Sixth Dan (sixth degree black belt) and began his Glen Rock teaching when he moved into the town in 1984. Blending Grandmaster Chun’s training with his own unique philosophy, he has instructed many talented martial artists throughout his 35-year tenure as an instructor, making him one of the most respected Masters in the tri-state area. Stevens believes in community service and has volunteered his time as part of the Glen Rock Ambulance Corps and requires his black belt students to be certified in CPR. He has also taught TaeKwonDo for the recreation departments of several New Jersey municipalities including Tenafly, Englewood, and Leonia. Master Stevens also serves as a consultant to the United States Martial Arts Team. In addition to his training in Tae Kwon Do, Stevens also holds a BFA in communications studies from the New York Institute of Technology and has recently published an illustrated children’s book about name calling and bullying.
