Page 6 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • July 14, 2010 Junior League grant funds renovation at Woodlea To commemorate the Junior League of Bergen County’s 75th anniversary, that organization’s members made a $10,000 grant to Children’s Aid and Family Services’ Woodlea/Path I Advisory Council. The grant was used for a major renovation of the sunroom at the Woodlea group home in Ridgewood. Within one year, the room was transformed from a seasonal space that could be used only in the warm weather to a computer room used year round by the residents. The electric was upgraded, new lighting, a new rug and new furniture were purchased, and decorative touches were added to make the room more inviting to the girls living there. They now use it to do their schoolwork and for relaxation. 4-29-09 karen/janine In a recent ceremony, the room was EmmanuelHelp3x.75(4-29-09) dedicated to longtime JLBC member Barbara Abney Bolger. Bolger was 3 x .75 chair of the task force that purchased and renovated the Woodlea home in 1973. She served for 36 years as the president of the Woodlea/PATH I Advisory Council of which she is still a member. Bolger is also a member of Children’s Aid and Family Services’ Board of Trustees and a sustainer in the Junior League of Bergen County. “Woodlea has such a special place in my heart,” said Bolger. “I’m delighted the girls get so much use out of the room since it was renovated. The dedication of the room was a memorable and lovely occasion for my family and me.” Children’s Aid and Family Services is one of the leading nonprofit human services organizations serving northern New Jersey.
