She was a member of the Ridgewood Choral and an artist. She was a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth’s R.C. Church in Wyckoff. She is survived by her husband William. She was predeceased by her son Tony, and her five sisters and one brother. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Catherine V. Beck, nee Kenny, of Ridgewood died July 5. She was 96. She is survived by her daughters Judy Baker, Nancy Cassidy, and Cindy Maxwell, six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and her sister Ann Chase. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Beck. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Anne Boreham Craig Williams Bickell of Fearrington Village, North Carolina, formerly of Wyckoff, Ridgewood, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and East Hampton and Amagansett, New York, died July 5. She was 83. In the 1960s and 1970s, she served as corporate secretary of Oakland-based Stihl American, Inc., and as president of McQuade Travel Agency of Fort Lauderdale. She was active with the Cub Scouts, the Brownies, the YWCA, the Ridgewood Junior Woman’s Club, the College Club, and the PTA. She was a deaconess at West Side Presbyterian Church. She had been a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church. She was a fundraiser for the Valley Hospital of Ridgewood. She served as president of the Fearrington Women’s Club, chairman of the Pool Board’s Social Committee and was her local block chairman. She was a member of the Fearrington Republican Club, and the Women’s Circle at the University Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She is survived by her children Walter Johnson Williams of Oakland, California, Virginia, Elizabeth Williams Neer of Pittsboro, North Carolina, and Gordon Craig Williams of Plymouth, Massachusetts, 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Frederick Adna Bickell Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to a local Alzheimer’s fund or a charity of choice. Joseph William Bitsack, MD of Mahwah died July 1. He was 91. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was vice chairman emeritus of the department of surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center, where he also served as director of surgical education. He was affiliated with the hospital for over 60 years. He was acting director of surgery from 1980-83, was appointed chief of thoracic surgery in 1972, and named associate director of surgery in 1976. He also served as attending surgeon for Bergen Pines Hospital in Paramus. Upon retiring from private practice, he was Gloria V. Beahan Catherine V. Beck appointed a clinical associate professor of surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry-New Jersey Medical School. He was president of the Bergen County Medical Society from 1980-81, and served as president of the New Jersey Society of Surgeons in 1985. He was named Physician of the Year in 1975 by the American Cancer Society. He coauthored publications and articles, including “Tracheal Hamartoma,” which was published in The American Journal of Medicine and “Massive Fibroma of Thorax,” published in the New Jersey Journal of Medicine. He was a charter member of the Mahwah American Legion Post 531 and a member of the Hackensack Golf Club. He is survived by his wife Patricia Christensen, his children Paula Ruckelshaus, Jay, Timothy, Ned, and Jeffrey, and five grandchildren. James Thomas Brickman of Wyckoff died July 4. He was 63. He was a partner and chief operating officer with Kwasha Lipton in Fort Lee. Earlier he had been a partner with Baker and Hostetler of Cleveland, Ohio. He was a charter fellow of the College of Employee Benefits Counsel, a member of the board of the American Benefits Council, and a member of the ABA Section of Taxation Employees Benefits Committee. He was a member of Arcola Country Club in Paramus. He is survived by his wife Robin (nee Duesterdick), his children Mindy O’Neal of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, Travis Brickman of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, his step-son Thomas Hoesly of Wyckoff, three grandchildren, sisters Rachel Johnson of Bloomington, Illinois and Rosalind Holt of Staunton, Virginia, and his former wife Nancy Brickman of Pittsboro, North Carolina. DeBoer, nee Shields, of Greenfield, Massachusetts, formerly of Midland Park, died July 1. She was 100. Before her retirement, she was confidential aide to the Bergen County Surrogate. She was secretary for the Midland Park Elementary School, acting postmaster of Midland Park, and clerk to the House of Representatives and Senate for the State of New Jersey. She was a member of the Midland Park Chamber of Commerce. She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Regan, Eloise Illman, Jacki Salem, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John DeBoer. Robert A. Greer of Midland Park died July 2. He was 49. He was an independent real estate appraiser for 20 years and owner of Robert A. Greer I.F.A. He was a member and former president of the N.A.I.F.A. He was active in Midland Park youth sports, coaching basketball and baseball. He was a past president of the Midland Park Board of Rec- reation. He is survived by his wife Anne (nee Sanders), his children, Robby, Matt and Marybeth, his sister Tammy Greer, and his uncle Wayne Sheets. Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #5257. He was the manager of the 1978 Boswell Engineering Waldwick Baseball League Champions.
