Recent thefts include wallet
The Ridgewood Police Department is investigating the theft of a wallet that was lifted at the Hot Box Jewelry store and found empty on the sidewalk. The woman told police she either lost her wallet or had it stolen on June 24. The wallet was later found lying in the street with the money removed. During a June 24 motor vehicle stop on Lincoln Avenue, Patrolman Sean Amoruso noticed an aroma of burnt marijuana. Police searched the vehicle and a bag containing marijuana and drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and was released pending a date in municipal court. On June 27, police removed an unruly man from Brooklyn from a bus after he was described as a disruptive passenger. Ridgewood police discovered that there was a warrant for his arrest from Atlantic City. He was released after posting bail. The man faces charges in Atlantic City, but not in Ridgewood. J. KOSTER
The Social Service Association of Ridgewood and vicinity is seeking donations to send needy children to camp. Many of the agency’s client families have been affected by job losses, illness, and the absence of one or more parent. In many cases, the working parents in these families are unable to afford child care or provide any recreational opportunities to their children when school is out. For over 40 years, SSA has provided camperships for boys and girls who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend day camp.

OPRC Music Director honored
Stewart Holmes, music director and organist at Ridgewood’s Old Paramus Reformed Church, was surprised when Pastor Tom Marsden called him forward from his organ bench to honor his 17 years of outstanding and dedicated work at OPRC. Holmes was presented with a scholarship donation in his name to the American Guild of Organists, highly regarded for its training of students of organ music. Pastor Marsden also paid tribute to the 21 members of the gifted and dedicated choir and section leaders.
