Emblematic of the popularity of Ridgewood as a restaurant venue are two new Japanese restaurants on Chestnut Street – one open, the other pending, across the street from one another. “We’re delighted with the new stores and restaurants opening in Ridgewood,” Gabbert said as he looked over the list from the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce. New Chamber members who have signed up over the last six months include: The Arthur Murray Dance Studio at 247 East Ridgewood Avenue (the old Sealfon’s building). The new owners of Ben & Jerry’s at 104 Franklin Avenue. Cupcakes by Carousel at 192 East Ridgewood Avenue. Eileen’s Tailoring on South Broad Street, opening its second outlet in Ridgewood. In the Mix Entertainment at 127 East Ridgewood Avenue. Unique Boutique (two stores merging into one) at 211 East Ridgewood Avenue. Joailler at 196 East Ridgewood Avenue. On Jan. 12, an East Ridgewood Avenue business reported the theft of money that an employee of that business had left in a file cabinet for a three-day period. When the employee returned for the money, it was missing. On Jan. 14, a Godwin Avenue resident reported that, during the night, his unlocked vehicle had been entered while it was parked in his driveway. The resident reported an iPod missing. The same day, a Ridgewood resident reported that he had parked his car at the New York Sports Club and returned to find that the window on the passenger side had been broken.
