Auxiliary fulfills $2 million pledge Sue Kelly, president of The Valley Hospital Auxiliary (left), recently presented Audrey Meyers, president and CEO of The Valley Hospital and Valley Health System, with a check for $54,000, representing the auxiliary’s final payment on its $2 million pledge. Through tireless efforts on behalf of The Valley Hospital and Valley Home Care, the auxiliary completed its $2 million commitment in only three and a half years. The auxilians’ work directly resulted in the development of a new women’s health unit, the purchase of a 64slice CT scanner, and the expansion of Valley’s inpatient pediatric suite. In addition, the pledge supported Valley Home Care’s Butterflies Pediatric Palliative Care program and Valley’s Hospitalists program. Teachers and guidance counselors are invited to submit applications on behalf of deserving students. Each school may nominate one student. A panel of Hackensack Riverkeeper Trustees and staffers led by Captain Bill Sheehan will review each application. Among other criteria, the panel will consider each applicant’s academic achievements, environmental extracurricular activities and future plans. The $1,000 scholarship is unrestricted and can be used for any required purchases during the student’s first year at college.
