Recreation department offers multiple programs
Registration is currently underway for the next session of after school programs offered by the Ridgewood Recreation Division. Programs, which are held at The Stable, 259 North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood, will begin in March. Explore Science is for students in kindergarten through grade three and will be offered on Mondays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. beginning March 8. This session offers new hands-on lessons in puff mobiles, catapults, building bridges, and airplanes. The cost is $90 for six classes and includes all materials. Acrylic painting for students in grades two through five will meet on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. beginning March 9. Participants will receive individual attention and will be provided with goals and objectives to help them find their own personal approach to painting. The cost is $54 for six classes. Cartoon Creations will be offered to children in grades one through five on Mondays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. beginning March 8. Students will learn about cartooning, animation, writing, and design as they develop their drawing skills and imaginations. Each student will receive a drawing kit with a sketch pad and drawing tools. Famous cartoonists’ work will be studied. The cost is $120 for six classes and includes all materials. Nature in the Village for students in kindergarten through grade two will be offered on Thursdays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. beginning March 11. This program includes discussions, hands-on projects, and outdoor treks (weather permitting). The class cost is $90 for six classes, and includes all materials. Aviation Club will be offered to children in kindergarten through grade five on Fridays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. beginning March 12. Participants will learn to read and evaluate construction plans and how to use various hobby tools as they create and operate a variety of air models. The class is $120 for six sessions and includes all materials.
