Coffee will be on at 9:30 a.m. Children are welcome; child care is available for all walking children. The meeting will be held on the lower level of the parish center at 1 Passaic Street, Ridgewood. The group’s Pizza and Parable Night will be Friday, March 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will include a pizza supper, and a presentation and discussion of the movie “Up.” Pizza and crafts will be at 6 p.m.; the movie and popcorn will follow at 6:45 p.m. The cost is $5 per person or $15 per family. Samick to discuss stained glass Donald Samick of Lamb’s Studios in Wyckoff will present “The Inspirational Beauty of Stained Glass” on Wednesday, March 3 at 1:15 p.m. at the Old Paramus Reformed Church, 660 East Glen Avenue, Ridgewood. The visual presentation will include original and restored stained glass windows from local churches and synagogues throughout the United States. The Women’s Guild is sponsoring this program on this unique ministry to houses of worship. This program is open to the public. A freewill offering will be accepted. Shabbat across America set Temple Israel and Jewish Community Center of Ridgewood, located at 475 Grove Street, will host a “Shabbat across America” dinner on Friday, March 5. Dinner will be at 7 p.m. and the Kabbalat Shabbat (Welcome to Shabbat) service will begin at 8:30 p.m. This dinner and service, at which non-members of Temple Israel are especially welcome, represents a united effort by the entire Jewish community to renew interest in the fourth of the Ten Commandments: observing a weekly day of rest (Shabbat in Hebrew). Temple Israel is one of about 700 synagogues across the continent that will be welcoming practicing and nonpracticing Jews. Rabbi David J. Fine and Cantor Caitlin Bromberg will lead this event. Attendees will experience an informative Friday night service and a traditional Shabbat dinner with all the rituals explained. Tickets for the Shabbat across America dinner are $12 per adult, $8 for children 6 through 12, and free of charge for children five years old and younger. The maximum price for a family is $40. Baumann named to Dean’s List Kimberly M. Baumann of Ridgewood has been named to the Dean’s List at Rowan University in Glassboro for the fall 2009 semester. Youth yoga classes offered The Ridgewood Parks and Recreation is offering students a series of yoga classes. Yoga improves physical and mental health through meditative breathing, stretching, and relaxation exercises. Film series to feature ‘Arranged’ The Peace and Justice Committee of The Unitarian Society of Ridgewood will feature the movie “Arranged” on Sunday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. “Arranged” is a Brooklyn fable about the parallel destinies of two female friends, both first-year teachers in Brooklyn, one an Orthodox Jewess and the other a traditional Muslim. Council meeting rescheduled The Ridgewood Village Council had to cancel the Feb. 10 public meeting due to inclement weather and the public meeting has been rescheduled for Feb. 24 and will take place starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Sydney V.
