February 10, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 9 Ridgewood Ridgewood resident John Kandravy, chairman of both the Valley Health System Board of Trustees and the Valley Home Care Board of Trustees, was recently honored with the Trustee of the Year Award at the 91st Annual Meeting of the New Jersey Hospital Association. The NJHA Trustee of the Year Award recognizes outstanding leadership within hospital or health system boards of trustees, which are comprised of community members who volunteer their time. Kandravy began his service with The Valley Hospital in 1992. Since that time, he has held a number of positions on the boards of trustees of The Valley Hospital, Valley Home Care, and Valley Health System. “John is an outstanding trustee who has contributed Valley trustee honored by NJ Hospital Association years of service and leadership to this hospital and health system and to the community,” said Audrey Meyers, president and CEO of The Valley Hospital and Valley Health System. “Valley has benefited enormously from John’s 18 years of exemplary leadership.” Kandravy, a lawyer, is a partner in the Florham Park office of the national law firm of Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP. An active community volunteer, Kandravy also serves as chairman and president of the board of trustees of The Forum School Foundation; a member and vice president of the board of trustees of The Forum School, a private school for developmentally disabled children; and chairman of the board of Trustees of Children’s Aid and Family Services. ‘Beaufort’ screening & discussion set Temple Israel and JCC of Ridgewood will present the film “Beaufort” on Sunday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. A discussion of the film, led by Rabbi David J. Fine, will follow. This program is open to the public. A $5 suggested donation covers costs and refreshments. “Beaufort” tells the true story of Liraz Liberti, a 22year-old outpost commander, and his troops in the months before Israel pulled out of Lebanon in 2000. This is not a story of war, but of retreat. This is a story with no enemy, only an amorphous entity that drops bombs from the skies while terrified young soldiers must find a way to carry out their mission until their very last minutes on a mountaintop. As Liraz places the explosives that would destroy the very structure his friends had died defending, he witnesses his soldiers’ mental and physical disintegration and the collapse of all he has been taught as an officer. This presentation is co-sponsored by Temple Israel’s Israel Action Committee and Adult Education Committee. Temple Israel and JCC is located at 475 Grove Street in Ridgewood.
