Nominating petitions available for council candidates
by John Koster Nominating petitions for Ridgewood’s non-partisan village council election are now available at the Ridgewood Village Clerk’s office and may be picked up from 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday except on legal holidays. The deadline for filing completed petitions is March 18, and the election is scheduled for May 11, with two four-year seats available. Mayor David Pfund and Councilman Patrick Mancuso have not announced whether they will seek new terms. The new council, with three experienced members and two newly elected members, will take office on July 1. Ridgewood’s non-partisan elections are conducted differently from the partisan elections in other local municipalities. In Ridgewood, prospective council candidates must obtain signatures from one percent of the registered voters to quality for a place on the ballot. In cases where there are more than twice as many candidates as seats, a runoff election takes place so that, in the final election, there are no more than two
Dancers to entertain Woman’s Club
The Ridgewood Woman’s Club will be entertained by a local dance studio at the Wednesday, Feb. 10 luncheon to be held at the clubhouse, 215 West Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood. Lunch, catered by La Strada in Midland Park, will be served at noon, followed by a business meeting and the program at 1:30 p.m. RSVP by mailing a check to The Woman’s Club of Ridgewood, 215 West Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ 07450. The cost for lunch is $15 for members, $20 for non-members, and $5 for non-members who only attend the program. The Woman’s Club of Ridgewood, a non-profit organization and member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and The New Jersey Federation of Women’s Clubs, is always looking for new members.
