Ridgewood February 3, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 3 Ridgewood residents who turned out at the Education Center on Jan. 24 for the premiere of “A Walk through Historical Ridgewood” enjoyed a nostalgic tour through the core of the town Ridgewood once was, and gained some insight into how the past is reflected in the present. The principals in the film – Ridgewood Historic Preservation Commission Chairman Art Wrubel, Historian Joe Suplicki, Ridgewood Library History Librarian Peggy Norris, and Ridgewood schools publicist Bill Carbone – appeared in person at the debut of the film, which incorporated live action with historical stills to offer a look at Ridgewood when it was a developing community. The third-floor conference room was virtually filled with residents who attended the event, and copies of the DVD produced by Nick DeBlasio and Beau Jadrosich of History of village told in nostalgic DVD Glory Days media for the Ridgewood Historical Commission will be offered for sale at the Ridgewood Library and other retailers through the month of February. The half-hour video will also be shown at the Ridgewood Library on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. The DVD offers a look at the architectural history of Ridgewood, especially in the years just before and after the turn of the century. With the 1916 California Mission-style Ridgewood railroad station as the focal point, the video explores the background of the community through comments on Old Paramus Reformed Church, the Pease Memorial Library, a number of the downtown buildings, and the Education Center.
