Nancy Schuring of Devon Fine Jewelry
lthough the year has just begun, Devon Fine Jewelry’s calendar is brimming with exciting events. Owner Nancy Schuring has planned a Gem Sale for March 2 through 13 that will be punctuated by the March 5 GemBoree, an evening of fun and learning about gems. On April 30, Devon will host an Antique Jewelry Road Show, featuring special guest Alan Nacht, an antique jewelry expert. Last November, Nancy held the wildly popular Finder’s Keepers giveaway. Thirty Devon Nancy Schuring and Julie gift bags, all of which contained a piece of fine jewelry, were left out in plain sight in nine local communities. Staff members ensured that each piece would be found, and then spoke with the individuals who located these special gifts of appreciation. “People were overwhelmed,” Nancy noted. “I’m so pleased with the response. It was a lot of fun.” Nancy adds that Devon has begun sponsoring students’ education at the Institute of Gemology of Madagascar, and two have already completed the course. Nancy says this education changes the lives of Madagascar’s women and handicapped residents as they learn gemology and lapidary. Nancy welcomes residents to bring their old jewelry to be redesigned by Devon’s staff, or sold. Anyone who may want to sell jewelry is invited to view “Getting the Most from Selling Your Old Jewelry” on devonfinejewelry.com. Devon is the exclusive source for several fine jewelry lines, including the Devon Original Designs. In addition to the largest selection of colored gemstones in the area, Devon carries the world’s top three diamond lines: Hearts on Fire; The Kwiat Diamond Jewelry Collection, and the Christopher Designs Criss-Cut line. Visit Devon at 303 Franklin Avenue, Wyckoff Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10-6; Thursday until 8; and Saturday, 10-5. Call (201) 848-8489 or visit devonfinejewelry@aol.com for details about upcoming events.
