December 15, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 3 Glen Rock Borough’s library director announces her retirement by John Koster Glen Rock Library Director Roz Pelcyger, designated as the Librarian of the Year by the New York Times a few years ago, has announced that she will resign from her post at the end of the year -- but will not be leaving Glen Rock entirely. Pelcyger, who once took part in a Glen Rock July 4 Parade costumed as “Queen Reads-A-Lot,” will be feted at a Roz Recognition Day on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. She has vowed to come back to the Glen Rock Library on a regular basis after her official retirement goes into effect. Her last anticipated day on the payroll is Dec. 31. “I don’t think of myself as retiring ‘from’ but retiring ‘to.’ I am looking forward to spending more time with family and friends, reviving old hobbies, learning new ones, and staying home on snowy days,” Pelcyger said. “My son and daughter are buying me an iPad 2, and I’m hoping to spend time learning how to use it to download books, and read! I’ll also have plenty of time to meet (Glen Rock residents) for lunch, sit with the knitters on Wednesday afternoons, and discuss books at the book groups.” Pelcyger holds a bachelor’s degree in literature from the City College of New York, a master’s in library science from Simmons College in Boston, and has done postgraduate work at the University of Virginia and at Rutgers University.
