Page 22 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • December 8, 2010 Glen Rock Roundup Attorney to address club Criminal defense attorney Bruce Cutler will be the featured speaker at the Glen Rock Jewish Center Men’s Club breakfast meeting on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 9:30 a.m. Cutler began his career as an assistant district attorney in Kings County (Brooklyn), New York, and soon became its top homicide prosecutor. His clients have included John Gotti, Phil Spector, and the so-called “Mafia Cops.” He has appeared in the Robert DeNiro film “Fifteen Minutes,” on Court TV’s “Cutler and Hays,” and as presiding judge on the CW courtroom show “Jury Duty.” He also appeared in ESPN’s “Yankees on Trial,” in which he defended the New York Yankees in a trial addressing the issue of whether his client’s free spending was good for baseball. Admission is free for all members of the Glen Rock Jewish Center Men’s Club and their spouses, $5 for all other members of the congregation, and $10 for non-members. Toy Drive underway Glen Rock High School senior David Engle is collecting toys for the Paterson Boys and Girls Club. The club needs over 800 toys to give to children as holiday presents. Donations of unwrapped toys for children ages six through 18 may be dropped off in the box located in the Glen Rock Public Library, 315 Rock Road in Glen Rock. The drive will run through Dec. 17. Group to discuss Pearl Harbor Day book On Pearl Harbor Day, Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m., the Glen Rock Library’s Nonfiction Book Discussion Group will tackle “Shockwave: Countdown to Hiroshima” by Stephen Walker. Walker provides a detailed history of the atomic bomb from the drawing board to the horrors experienced on the ground. Walker examines all sides of this controversial event, focusing on the important roles of perception and memory. Multiple copies of the book are available at the reference desk. The cost of the publication, Distinguished guest John Burland visited Academy of Our Lady and gave a concert for the students and faculty at Saint Catharine’s Church. A native of Australia, Burland is a Catholic educator, composer, and singer who performed for the Holy Father during World Youth Day 2008. Burland, Academy of Our Lady Music Director Chris Palmerini, and several students performed at the Catechetical Congress at Paramus Catholic High School. which offers discounts at local and national businesses and restaurants, is $30.
