The speaker, Pat Schuber, recounted the battle from both the Russian and German perspective. Schuber is pictured receiving a plaque designating him an honorary member of the Activities Club for his numerous presentations for the club. The Activities Club is a group of retired and semi-retired men involved in volunteer, athletic, educational, social and scientific activities. The club currently has 22 different activities affording its members various opportunities for participation. Curbside pickup of recyclable materials received strong support, with 513 people rating this service as “very important” and another 243 rating it “somewhat important.” Only 234 considered curbside pickup of recyclables as “not very important,” while 57 people skipped the question. Most residents, 701, were content with the hours at the recycling center. Seventy-three respondents said there were not enough hours, while 136 said there were more hours than needed. Some 80 respondents said they didn’t use the recycling center at all. Monthly bulk pickup for large items, such as discarded furniture and appliances, was rated “very important” by 605 residents, “somewhat important” by 195, and “not very important” by 190, with 57 people not responding. Spending on borough roads was rated adequate by 686 residents, not up to par by 193, and more than sufficient by only 103, with 65 residents skipping the question. Residents asked about administrative services were preponderantly “satisfied” but not “very satisfied” and sometimes “unsatisfied.” Seven percent of residents asked about building and zoning said they were “very satisfied,” 51.3 percent were “satisfied,” and 23.7 percent were “dissatisfied.” Some 6.6 percent of residents were “very satisfied” with the municipal court and violations, 57.7 percent were “satisfied,” 5.6 percent were “dissatisfied,” and 45.5 percent indicated the question was “not applicable.” Tax collection left 19 percent “dissatisfied,” 12.2 percent “very satisfied,” and 55.5 percent “satisfied.” Administrative/recreation functions were centered: 57.7 percent were “satisfied,” 16.5 percent “very satisfied,” and 11.6 percent “dissatisfied.” More than 70 percent of residents said office hours were adequate. Three-quarters of residents said library hours were adequate, 10.2 percent said hours are more than adequate, and 5.4 percent said hours are inadequate. While 578 of those who responded said library programs “suit the needs of my family and are used by my family,” only 4.7 percent said library programs were inadequate, and 14 percent said they were more than necessary.
