Page 8 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • August 18, 2010 Ridgewood This summer, Ridgewood High School student Kwanghyuk Cho has been sharing his knowledge of tennis by offering free lessons to local youths. Cho, a member of Ridgewood High School tennis team, said he initially found teaching a challenge. “It was very difficult to teach the kids. The most challenging task was the method of teaching them,” he said. “It was tough. I was focused on the SATs, and it was really hard to get them concentrating on me, but, as time passed, I realized the pleasures coming from teaching.” Cho’s father quit his job in Korea and decided to stay in the United States to give his son an opportunity to study here. Last year, the elder Cho suggested his son provide free lessons to a child who wanted to learn, but could not pay for lessons. This summer, Cho is also participating in a Habitat for Humanity project. During his senior year at Ridgewood High, he will be tutoring leader in the National Honor Society. He said he looks forward to teaching kids in his future college community. RHS student offers free tennis lessons Kwanghyuk Cho, third from left, with some of his students.
