Florence Dono of Glen Rock died Aug. 7. She was 89. She is survived by her children John Dono, Jane O’Rourke, and Susan Majewski, two grandchildren, and her sisters Evelyn Lambert, and Jean Molinelli. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest, and her sister Gloria Ginocchio. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. June M. Green of Midland Park died Aug. 12. She was 74. She is survived by her son James of New York City. She was predeceased by her husband Warren. Arrangements were made by the Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Memorial donations may be sent to Kurth Cottage, care of the Valley Hospital, 223 North Van Dien Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ 07450. Pat Ferro of Wyckoff died Aug. 5. He was 84. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He had been an elementary school principal at Maywood Avenue School, and was previously a physical education teacher. He was the first head lifeguard at the Hawthorne Municipal Pool. He was a columnist for the Suburban News for over 30 years, penning the “Strolling Along” column. He is survived by his wife Joan Ferro (nee Titmas), his children Patrick J. Ferro of Hawthorne, and Carol Maffei of North Haledon, and five grandchildren. Arrangements were made by BrowningForshay Funeral Home in Hawthorne. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Elaine K. Hofsess, nee Michelfelder, of Waldwick, formerly of Saddle Brook, died Aug. 6. She was 69. She was a teacher in Lodi prior to working as an executive secretary for Boswell Engineering in Hackensack. She was a member of the New Apostolic Church in Paramus. She is survived by her husband John Hofsess, her children Lisa Cvetkovski of Raleigh, North Carolina, Scott Hofsess of Hoboken, and Glenn Hofsess of Brookfield, Connecticut, and six grandchildren. He was 84. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He had distinguished career in aviation aeronautics that spanned over 40 years. He was a member of the Chinese Community Center of New Jersey, the Glen Rock Hobbyist Club, and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife Connie, and his children Patty Chin, Elaine LaVine, Tim Jung, Cindy Wagner, and Tom Jung. Robert John Kelsey of Toms River, formerly of Ridgewood, died Aug. 8. He was 83. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a recognized expert in the field of packaging technology. Before starting his own international packaging consulting company he was the editor in chief of “Modern Packaging Magazine.” He also taught packaging law at the Rutgers School of Engineering, where he was a cofounding member of the Rutgers Graduate School of Packaging. He authored and edited countless articles and was selected to author the revised addition of the Hanlon Handbook of Packaging. He was a member of the Packaging Hall of Fame, honored with a lifetime membership to the American Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and a recipient of two Jesse H. Neal Awards for editorial excellence. He authored “Walking in the Wild,” a best-selling camping guidebook and wrote articles for a number of outdoor magazines. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America and established a high adventure explorer post in Northern New Jersey. He is survived by his wife Theodosia “Teddy” Kelsey, his children Robert, Patricia, Charles, and Christopher, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and his sister Diana Adams. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Bernard “Barney” McIntyre of Glen Rock died Aug. 10. He was 83. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Before retiring, he was employed as an inspector with Honeywell International in Teterboro, for over 40 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 4591 Hasbrouck Heights, the Hobbyist Club, and the 153 Retirees. He is survived by his wife Dolores “Dee” McIntyre (Flannery), his children Robert McIntyre, and Janice Macchi, his stepdaughter Aleta Colon, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife Frances (Mastrolia). Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Colonial Home Inc. in Fair Lawn. John “Jack” H. Pattman II of Hemlock Farms, Lords Valley, Pennsylvania, and Englewood, Florida, died Aug. 7. He was 73. He was a former chief of the Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department. He began his career as a Bergen County Policeman in 1963 and joined the Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department in 1964. He became a sergeant in 1969, a lieutenant in 1982, made captain in 1986, and was named chief of police in 1988. He retired in 1992. He attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and was a 1979 graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He also owned the Ho-Ho-Kus Aluminum Products Company for many years. He served as a Cub Scout leader for Pack 54. He was a Boy Scout Committee member, and coached several youth sports programs for the Ho-Ho-Kus recreation program. He was a former parishioner of Saint Luke’s R. C. Church in Ho-Ho-Kus. He is survived by his wife Jeanne (nee Sherry), his sons John, Michael, and Joseph, all of Midland Park, Jeffrey of Waldwick, and Kevin of Greensboro, North Carolina, 13 grandchildren, and his aunts Stella Schabel of Venice, Florida, and Marie Edlkraut of Orange Lake, Florida. Picot, nee Horbac, of Milford, Connecticut, formerly of Mahwah and Old Bridge, died Aug. 4. She was 51. A graduate of Saint Peter’s School of Nursing in New Brunswick, she was employed by the Milford Hospital. She is survived by her daughter Caitlyn M. Picot of Franklin Lakes, her mother Dolores Horbac of Newtown, Pennsylvania, her brother Patrick of Hoboken, and her sisters, Maureen Prat of Newtown, Pennsylvania, and Doreen Bohme of Wall Township. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Dorothy Davis Pruden of Ridgewood died Aug. 4. She was 81. She had been a member of countless organizations in the Ridgewood area, including the Junior Woman’s Club. She was a member of the local Wellsley College Club, serving as an alumnae admissions interviewer for many years. She served on the Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Education for over a decade. She was a member of the New Jersey Republican Party, and served as a local county committee woman. She was a member of the East Chop Tennis Club at Martha’s Vineyard. She is survived by her children William H. Pruden III of Raleigh North Carolina, Robert M. Pruden of Glendale, California, Margaret Kirkpatrick of Arlington, Massachusetts, Patricia Pruden-Lennox of Medway, Massachusetts, and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the East Chop Tennis Club on Martha’s Vineyard, on Sept. 4 at 5:30.
