Earth Day celebration planned The 40 anniversary celebration of Earth Day, sponsored by the Ridgewood Environmental Advisory Committee, will be held Saturday, May 1 (rain date: May 2) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held at Memorial Park at Van Neste Square on East Ridgewood Avenue. Green Team participants in the Green Market Fair will include Backyard Bird Havens, Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop, Bergen County Utilities Authority, Bergen County Soil Conservation District, Bicycling Touring Club of North Jersey, Borst Landscapers, CLC Landscape Design, Clean Energy Program, Eastern Mountain Sports, Explore Science, GeesePeace, Girl Scouts of America, Glen Rock Environmental Commission, Green Kids, Green Up Glen Rock, Green Living Solutions, Hackensack Riverkeeper, League of Women Voters, Lower Passaic Watershed Alliance, NJDEP Clean Water, Native Plant Society, Open Space Committee, Ridgewood Department of Public Works, Ridgewood Engineering Division, Ridgewood Parks, Recreation and Conservation Board, Project Pride Committee, Purple Dragon, R&S Landscaping, Ridgewood Bike Shop, Ridgewood Recycling Division, Renewable Resource Systems, Ridgewood Unitarian Society, Ridgewood Veterinary Center, Ridgewood Wildscape Association, Whole Foods Market, and Women Gardeners of Ridgewood. A document shredding truck will be on site between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. All residents are invited to bring up to six cartons of paper for disposal. Proof of residency will be required. My First Art Class (with guardian), for children ages 20 to42 months, will be offered on Fridays from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. beginning May 7. Caregivers will join children as they explore painting, drawing, sculpting, and reading, and play art games. Activities are designed to provide opportunities to touch, feel, hear and see while building fine motor skills, language, creativity, and cognitive skills. The $110 fee for the six-week session includes all safe, non-toxic Crayola materials. KidzArt Discover! for children ages three-and-a-half to five years of age will meet on Mondays, from 1 to 2 p.m., beginning May 10. Preschoolers will participate in projects that help them understand and learn to use different media, improve reading readiness, tune-up fine motor coordination, and just have fun while learning to draw. The $95 fee includes the five-week session and all materials. Happy Piano for children ages three through five will begin May 6. Half-hour sessions will be held on Thursdays between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. Students will learn the basics of music theory and how to play familiar songs on the piano. The class is taught with the use of educational songs, props, and teaching aids, and each child is provided with a keyboard to use in class. The cost is $110 for the sixweek session. Rummage Sale set The Annual Rummage Sale sponsored by the Women’s Guild of Christ Church Ridgewood will be held April 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and April 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. The sale will take place in the Great Hall of Christ Church, located at Cottage Place and Franklin Avenue, Ridgewood. Household items, jewelry, attic treasures, appliances, books, toys, and clothing will be available. Admission is free.
