April 14, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 13 Glen Rock Roundup Learn to motivate gifted children The Gifted Child Society is offering an evening seminar by Jennifer Hoffman on “Strategies for Parents to Inspire Motivation in Their Gifted Children” on Thursday, April 29 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Gifted Child Society, 190 Rock Road, Glen Rock. For gifted children, motivation may falter due to unrealistic expectations, lack of rigor and relevance in school curricula, or the absence of creative options to display their knowledge. This workshop will help parents understand the nature of motivation and how to model behaviors to inspire motivation in their children and to help their children to stay motivated in school and beyond. This interactive workshop will give parents a toolbox of techniques to assist their gifted children in maintaining motivation in their academic, creative, artistic, and social pursuits, to be more passionate about their learning experiences, and to enjoy their journey as life-long learners. The evening seminar is open to all interested persons. Pre-registration is required, call the office at (201) 4446530 for fee information and a registration form or visit www.gifted.org.
