AN Associates Engineering, Planning, Architecture, Surveying, Inc. (LAN), one of the largest full-service architectural and engineering firms in northern New Jersey, is celebrating 45 years of design and project excellence this year. Since its inception, the Midland Parkbased firm has grown to more than 70 employees and generated more than $9 million in revenue in 2009 through architectural, engineering, environmental, and surveying services. “LAN was started by John Lacz in 1965 with a handful of individuals and a vision to create the most dynamic architectural and engineering firm possible. Through close relationships and dedication, we have grown to become one of the largest full-service architectural and engineering firms in northern New Jersey,” said CEO Ronald Panicucci. “Our success can be attributed to a philosophy that is not based on our wallets, but a commitment to doing the best work for our clients. That commitment is shared by every member of our firm, without whom we could not have achieved half our success, and is acknowledged by our clients. I am humbled to participate in the leadership of an organization that sets the standard for client service, professionalism and workplace satisfaction.” LAN has engaged in thousands of projects in its history. Those photos shown here are recent notable completed projects which reflect the diversity of the firm. At the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C., LAN designed an 11room addition which included a 4,000 sq.f t. Royal Suite. The Four Seasons is Washington’s only Five Diamond Hotel and serves the needs of diplomats and celebrities from around the world. The Great Room Addition at Heritage Manor East at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff incorporates a large, open dining space with clerestory windows and a ‘rocking chair’ front porch so residents can enjoy the fresh air and views within a semi-enclosed area. LAN also worked on the new Fidelity Investment Center in Morristown. This was an existing building, and in order to save time and money, the roof/structure of the existing building was hydraulically jacked up 4 feet to accommodate the requirements of the client. The scope of work included site plan engineering, construction documents for the building façade and design of a new roof and drainage system. At the Media Center at Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township, the goal of the project was to improve computer study by providing more flexible open space. The plan offers four small individual group instruction rooms and an open reading area on an expanded balcony level. LAN adopted green design and construction from its inception and has 24 LEED® Accredited Professionals through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) on staff. The firm offers a wide range of environmental services, including water pollution control, indoor air quality (IAQ) sampling, underground and above-ground storage tank designs and removals, regulatory compliance assistance, occupational safety, asbestos surveys and abatement, groundwater monitoring, and solid waste management. Throughout its 45 year history, LAN has been the recipient of more than 20 awards for its innovative architectural design, project management and business management. This year, LAN was awarded the prestigious ACEC New Jersey Distinguished Award for “Engineering Excellence” for the Asbury Tower in Asbury, New Jersey. In 2008, LAN was awarded the Goshen Historical Achievement Award for the restoration of the Dupeé & Monroe office building in Goshen, New York. (The firm’s Goshen, New York office opened in 1999). From 2003 to 2007, LAN was rated one of the “Top 100 Design Firms” in the metro area by New York Construction magazine. LAN serves clients throughout the United States and Canada. Its Midland Park headquarters is located in a historic building at 445 Godwin Avenue. For more information on LAN, visit its Website at www.lan-nj.com or contact Steve Ramiza at 201-447-6400.
