Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox offers the following safety reminders for motorists: Observe the 25 mph vehicle speed limit in school zones. Be aware that all roads in the Township of Wyckoff have a 25 mph speed limit unless otherwise posted. Observe traffic laws regarding school buses. Never drive past a school bus that has its stop signs displayed or has its lights flashing lights. Be aware that New Jersey Motor Vehicle Laws require that the driver of a vehicle must stop for a pedestrian crossing the roadway. Motorists should always obey the instructions of the school crossing guards. Motorists should always be alert and drive carefully around the township, especially during the hours when children are going to and from school and when crossing guards are in the roadway. wyckoffbooth@wyckoff-nj.com and provide names and addresses. Volunteers who appear on Sept. 11 will receive a brief program orientation and an area assignment to distribute CLF bulbs and Nifty Fifty program information when they travel from door to door delivering the light bulbs. The free light bulbs are provided by Project Porchlight and are compact fluorescent light bulbs, which are major energy savers and last much longer than conventional bulbs, saving haulage fees, landfill space, and electricity. The long-life bulbs will be limited to one bulb per customer. Residents should NOT call Wyckoff Town Hall to request bulbs, but should wait until they are delivered by the volunteers. Other Nifty Fifty tips include leaving grass clippings on lawns as mulch or future compost, keeping lids on garbage cans to avoid wetting down the contents and increasing the haulage and tipping fees, and engaging in composting at home. The township has composters available.
