Fall tennis program offered Midland Park Recreation is offering a fall tennis program for children in kindergarten through grade nine. Sessions will be held at the Dairy Street Tennis Courts on Saturday mornings, Oct. 2 through 23. Fourth through sixth grade (intermediate) and seventh through ninth grade (advanced) classes will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. A clinic for students in kindergarten through third grade will be held from noon to 1 p.m. The cost is $40 per child, with a $70 maximum per family. Classes are designed to make learning tennis an enjoyable experience using skill-building drills, which teach players basic skills and rules of the game. Board of education to meet The Midland Park Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held in the August C. DePreker Media Center at Highland Elementary School. Thrift shop prepares for fall The Community Thrift Shop, located on the lower level of the Midland Park Shopping Center at 85 Godwin Avenue, will hold a Bag Days sale on Sept. 1 and 2. The shop, featuring nearly new brand name clothing, jewelry, bric-a-brac, toys, and more, will be closed on Sept. 3 and 4,
and will reopen Sept. 7 for the fall season. Fifty-two member organizations benefit from sales at this shop, including Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mount Carmel Rosary/Altar Society, First Presbyterian Church Women’s Guild, Eastern Christian School Athletic Boosters, YMCA-YWCA Bergen County, Shelter Our Sisters, and Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. Nativity hosts parish picnic Church of the Nativity will host its parish picnic on Saturday, Sept. 18. The picnic will follow the 4 p.m. Mass held on the lawn behind the church. There will be a DJ and activities for children, a pie and cookie baking contest, and hot dogs, hamburgers, and corn on the cob. Tickets are $8 per person; $25 for a family of four or more; and $6 for seniors. Registration forms are available in the church bulletin and the parish office; phone (201) 444-6362. Baseball meeting set The Midland Park Baseball Association will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Midland Park Public Library.
