Letters to the Editor
(continued from page 20) a spectacular homecoming that day! A winning season has a lot to do with a team’s hard work and dedication. However, it would have not been possible without the support of our school administration, parents, and the community at large. Over 75 sponsors supported our T-shirt campaign to raise funds for our spring training trip to Orlando in March, and countless others supported us through fundraisers and by attending our games. We would be remiss in accepting this victory without recognizing all the help and support we’ve received from our community along the way. Thank you! University Programs
(continued from page 4) counselor recommendations. All highly-motivated eighth grade private and public school students who reside in Franklin Lakes, Oakland, and Wyckoff are eligible to apply for admission into any of the University Programs. Students make a four-year commitment to stay in the University Program for which they apply and are accepted, but they also fully participate in their school’s academic, athletic, and extracurricular life. The first two University Programs, international studies/business and science, were offered to students in the FLOW district who were entering the high school district in September 1999. Those two programs were offered at Indian Hills High to bolster enrollment in that school, and in response to the programs provided by the Bergen County Academies in Hackensack, which were attracting many of the district’s students at that time. The theater arts and the communications programs were introduced in 2000 at Ramapo High, engineering design was introduced in 2001at Ramapo, and information technology was introduced in 2002 at Indian Hills.
