Join the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition Young pro football fans will have the opportunity to exhibit their own skills with the pigskin when the Wyckoff YMCA hosts an NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at Wyckoff Memorial Field. This competition allows youngsters to showcase their talents in punting, passing, and kicking with scores based on distance and accuracy. Age classification is as of Dec. 31 of the current year. Story time registration to begin In-person registration for the Wyckoff Public Library’s story times will begin Thursday, Sept. 9 in the children’s room. Rhyme Time for children ages 12 months through 30 months and their caregivers will be held on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. The group will meet Sept. 13, 20, and 27, and Oct. 4, 11, and 18. Children ages 30 months to three years of age and their caregivers are invited to Toddler Tales, which will be held Fridays at 10:30 a.m. The group will meet on Sept. 17 and 24, and Oct. 1, 8, 15, and 22. Storytime Fun for Fours and Fives for children to attend independently will be held on Thursdays at either 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. The group will meet on Sept. 16, 23, and 30, and Oct. 7, 14, and 21. Adults welcome to walk-in health program Adult walk-in health screenings, monitoring, and assessments are open every Thursday (except the fifth Thursday) from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church on 422 Cedar Hill Avenue, Wyckoff. The following services are available: blood pressure monitoring, nutritional information (including diet consultation), cardiac risk factor information, osteoporosis risk identification, medication consultations, initial health referrals, and diabetes risk factor identification. A registered nurse conducts the sessions. This service is free to all Wyckoff adults, and appointments are not necessary. Sharks Swim Team holds tryouts Tryouts for the Wyckoff YMCA Shark Swim Team will be held Sept. 7 through 10. Tryouts are open to all swimmers ages six through 18. Schedule is as follows: Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. for age 13 and older; Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. for 11- and 12-year-olds; Thursday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. for nine- and 10-year-olds; Friday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. for eight-year-olds and younger swimmers. All swimmers must be registered for tryouts by Aug. 27. Registration forms are available at the front desk of the Y, which is located at 691 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff. There is a $5 registration fee to try out, which is waived for past Sharks team members. A $10 fee will be assessed for late registrations.
